Quick answer
Staking LINK earns rewards for helping secure the network, quoted as an annual percentage yield (APY). Your reward is roughly stake x APY x time, but it is paid in LINK — a volatile asset — and dilution, unbonding periods and taxes cut the real return. This tool pre-fills a typical 4.3% APY you can adjust.
How this is calculated
Rewards compound with the standard formula final = principal × (1 + APY/n)^(n × years), where
n is your compounding frequency (choose "no compounding" for simple interest). Dollar values
multiply coin amounts by the live LINK price; the optional price-change field revalues the final
position, not the yield itself.
The pre-filled APY is an indicative native-staking rate (3–4.5% range, verified 2026-07-12) — actual rates float with network participation, and platforms take commissions. Sources and update cadence are on the methodology page.
Chainlink staking facts
- Unbonding period
- 28-day cooldown, then a 7-day window to claim and exit
- Minimum stake
- No minimum, but the pool is capacity-capped — entry only opens when space frees up
- Compounding
- manual (rewards are claimed separately, not auto-restaked)
- Staking v0.2 pays a base floor near 4.32% for community stakers, funded by emissions today and designed to add oracle-service fees over time.
- The pool has a fixed 45M LINK capacity — when it is full, new deposits wait for room rather than earning immediately.
- Exiting is not instant: a 28-day cooldown is followed by a 7-day window in which you must claim or re-enter.
